Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin-Community Physicians

Doug Marx, D.O. is the executive medical director for Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin- Community Physicians.  He has served in this role since 2015 providing oversight and accountability for operational, service, quality, and financial performance of the medical group.  Community Physicians is a primary care and multi-specialty clinical practice group which operates 34 health centers and clinics in nearly 20 communities spanning across southeastern Wisconsin. The health centers are staffed by approximately 360 physicians, more than 130 advanced care providers and nearly 1,400 staff members.

Dr. Marx is a family medicine physician practicing in a collaborative model supported by a Nurse Practitioner in Germantown, WI.  He has bolstered medical group performance metrics by personally achieving top decile CG-CAHPS and WCHQ (Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality) quality metrics while caring for a patient panel size exceeding the highest MGMA reported percentile.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin- Madison, Dr. Marx attended medical school at Midwestern University- Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Downers Grove, IL.  He completed his family medicine residency at The Medical College of Wisconsin where he was chief resident.  He began practice in 2000 and has been at the same location throughout his career while the group expanded and eventually joined the health system.

Throughout his career, Dr. Marx served in several leadership roles including site medical director, director of primary care, regional medical director, counsel member of the physician leadership committee, nursing home medical director and mentor for learners from multiple medical disciplines.

A champion of patient-centric care, Dr. Marx works closely with Inception Health- the innovation hub for Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin.  This forward-thinking arm of the organization drives innovation and collaborates with innovative companies to solve key health care problems, develop new ideas, and scale those solutions across the health network.
